Restorative Art Modesto
Where can you find a restorative art program in Modesto that heals the hearts of children with love and art? Where can you volunteer for or donate to a creative healing art program that builds lasting partnerships with local artists, local art and entertainment venues, businesses, and nonprofits? Cricket’s Hope, based at our art-house, Cricket’s House, serves victims of domestic violence. We focus on providing love, joy, and optimism to children wounded by the abuse, addiction, and mental ill-health of caretakers. The Art Restores Kids (ARK) program provides a safe place to explore feelings, empowering children to speak their truth. At Cricket’s House, Camp Hope, and other community partner locations, kids paint, draw, mold, and shape. The focus needed to create art opens a pathway for children to work through challenging emotions and reactions to events and situations beyond their control. Surrounded by peers and caring adults, they learn that they are not the only ones to struggle and that they are not alone.
Our annual fundraising event is unique and inspiring. Kids work with teachers to create art, adding commentary to each piece. Interpreting these pieces, local artists create distinctive, extraordinary art that is sold to the community. Aside from funding our programs, this event provides a rare moment to begin talking about and raising awareness about domestic violence. By working together, one child at a time, we can end the cycle of violence. Despite being subjected to painful circumstances, we build a world of color, light, healing, and hope to nurture these young souls. What could be more inspiring? What could be more important than getting involved by volunteering or donating to the remarkable creative healing art programs of Cricket’s Hope?
