Youth Programs Modesto
Cricket’s Hope provides youth programs in Modesto to children traumatized by domestic violence. We offer kids the opportunity to envision a better future for themselves through restorative art, empowering them to express their feelings, learn their unique gifts, and rebuild self-confidence through art and meaningful relationships. The nurturing home of our youth social services art program is Cricket’s House, which became part of the Stanislaus Family Justice Center (SFJC) in 2014 through a generous donation from the Christopher P. Walker Foundation. In 2019 Crickets Hope, INC. became its own non-profit Corporation with governing Board of Directors and separated from SFJC and Interfaith Ministries We offer our programs at this art-house and at several community partner locations where participants do art, have parties, and become family. Generous donations from caring individuals—just like you!—have allowed us to expand services, reach more children, heal more hearts, and, more than anything, let kids be kids.
Art Restores Kids (ARK) is a hands-on, immersive youth social services art program for children exposed to emotionally compromised caretakers. Though not art therapy, ARK enhances the well-being of traumatized children. We love these children unconditionally and provide them with the support that nurtures and fosters growth, healthy attitudes, and wholesome habits. Centered on relationship-building, ARK is both project and workshop-based. We stay in contact with our kids, even when they change schools or towns, modeling stability, reliability, and acceptance. While focusing on lines, patterns, shapes, and colors with paint, paper, clay, and more, children learn to self-monitor their impulses and behavior. They slowly begin to show other indications of improved well-being, such as trusting adults, each other, and, most importantly, themselves. Transformative and miraculous, Cricket’s Hope nurtures each child in the present moment and demonstrates how to build a hope-giving foundation on which to construct better lives in the future.
