Do you want to volunteer for or donate to healing art programs that partner with local artists, local art and entertainment venues, businesses, and nonprofits? The staff at Cricket’s Hope serves victims of domestic violence or other related trauma, focusing on giving hope to children who find themselves, through no fault of their own, surrounded by abuse and addiction. We empower children who participate in the Art Restores Kids (ARK) program to speak their truth. Our children’s art programs give them a safe place to explore their feelings. They learn that they are not the only ones to struggle, that they are not alone. At Cricket’s House, children meet to paint, draw, mold, and shape. Through the focus required to create art, children learn to work through challenging emotions and reactions to events and situations beyond their control.
Once each year, we host a unique fundraising event called the Art of Hope. Kids work with staff and volunteers to create art. They add commentary to each piece. Artists then interpret these pieces and make their own art that is sold to the community to fund our programs. This event provides an uncommon opportunity to start a conversation and raise awareness about the effects of trauma and domestic violence and the exhibit is called the Art Restores Kids exhibit.
It is only by working together, one child at a time, that we can stop the cycle of violence.
